Daylight saving time 2018: Seven things to know about 'springing forward'

No fair: Florida is trying to opt out of Daylight Saving Time clock changes

Daylight Saving Time will end on November 4 when clocks will fall back one hour and sunrise will be at 6:52 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:27 p.m.

But it's not, according to Prerau, whose 2009 book "Seize the Daylight" traces the history of the time shift.

Sunday morning, most of the nation will spring forward an hour as daylight-saving time begins.

There's one thing most Florida lawmakers can agree on: daylight. While it's awful that we're all losing an hour of sleep, we're gaining an hour of daylight.

You may want to store up some extra sleep in the next few weeks because you are about to lose an hour of it. By advocating for daylight saving time, he did not practice what he preached of "early to bed, early to rise".

Benjamin Franklin first thought up the idea of daylight saving in 1784. Most of the United States will spring forward Sunday, except for Hawaii and Arizona, which opted out of daylight saving time.

The patchwork of time zones upset interstate businesses, so in 1966, the Federal government published the Uniform Time Act, which is now overseen by the Department of Transportation.

For most Arizonans, it means we'll be on the same time as states west of us, three hours behind the East Coast.

Daylight saving time begins March 11, 2018 at 2:00 A.M.

Most of the Caribbean: Cuba, the Bahamas and Bermuda are generally exceptions, in that they do observe DST.

Arizona, Hawaii, and the territories like Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and American Samoa do not use DST.

However, Florida loves itself some daylights saving time.

The incentives for the Sunshine Protection Act include expected lower energy use in the evening hours and lower crime rates, as well as a boost in tourism for shops and attractions, the Times reported.

In order for Daylight Saving to become permanent in Florida, the law will need a signature from Governor Rick Scott.

The scenario is probably why some states like Florida may have had enough with this bouncing around in time.
