UCF Wikipedia page claims Louisville's vacated 2013 national championship

Louisville's appeal to the NCAA has been denied and they must vacate all men's basketball records from the 2011-12 to 2014-15 seasons, it was announced Tuesday.

The school will vacate a total of 123 wins and pay fines totaling $600,000 after their appeal to the NCAA Infractions Committee, a process that began in June of previous year, was rejected.

David Glenn breaks down why the punishment handed to Louisville from the NCAA is yet another example of why the theory that NCAA is afraid of major programs doesn't hold up.

Yes, that's the Louisville team that beat MI in the 2013 championship game.

MI guard Trey Burke (3) walks off the court as Louisville celebrate their win during the second half of the NCAA Final Four tournament college basketball championship game Monday, April 8, 2013, in Atlanta.

Allegations made by Katina Powell, the former escort, were made in a book "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen".

As member station WFPL reports, "the university must also return money received through conference revenue sharing for its appearances" in the NCAA tournament each of those years. It also refuted Louisville's position that the NCAA exceeded its boundaries and didn't follow its own precedent established in other cases and said in an eight-page decision that ended, "the penalties are upheld". Now if some other people are going to come and say, 'Hey, you won it all, you're the champion, ' we'll take it.

Postel criticized the decision by the NCAA's infractions appeals committee, saying the NCAA "ignored" the university's cooperation in the college athletics governing body's investigation into stripping and sex-themed parties at a basketball dormitory.

Andre McGee, a former Louisville assistant, arranged for strippers and prostitutes to perform sex acts for Cardinals recruits and players during his time with the program.

I wish that we could have seen MI basketball win a championship that fateful night in 2013.

Louisville self-imposed a postseason ban in 2016; later that spring, it reduced its scholarships and reduced the staff's number of recruiting visits by a quarter. Until athletes are paid for their time and dedication to a school's basketball program, the NCAA will always be a stain on the sport. But it still found that Pitino had failed to monitor his staff for compliance with NCAA rules, and it imposed several penalties on the program, including a five-game suspension for Pitino, on top of sanctions that Louisville had pre-emptively imposed on itself.
