IOS 12 Rumors: FaceTime Animoji, Deeper Siri Integration, and More

Apple confirms iPhone source code leak

If you're an iPad power user, I hope you got all of the multi-tasking features you were hoping for in iOS 11. Now, the Cupertino giant is also looking to integrate Animoji in FaceTime as well as deeper Siri integration. Compare that with 79 percent as of last February and it's easy to see why Apple is ready to start taking bugs more seriously. The animated emojis feature reportedly will also be integrated into FaceTime and can be used during video calls with friends. This year's iOS upgrade will not only be known for several new additions, but also for the way Apple carries its iOS release cycle, according to Bloomberg.

While Apple's focus for iOS 12 is reportedly on reliability and performance, the company is working on a number of new features as well.

For the past year, armchair analysts and experts have been debating whether the glitches mean that the quality of Apple software is getting worse. In June this year, Apple will showcase iOS 12.

That means a new model of the tablet should come with the Face ID camera, which is what enables Apple's Animoji feature.

Instead of meeting tight deadlines and ticking checklists, development teams might have more say in how certain features that eventually make their way to the final build - or delay them entirely if more polishing is needed.

Other details about the future operating system remain unknown, and it's possible that some features will be bumped back if they aren't up to snuff.

Gizbot reports that the upcoming Apple iOS 12 will bring various features, including the capability of running the iPhone apps on the Mac devices.

macOS 10.14 might end up being the biggest beneficiary from the rumoured universal app strategy, with some iOS staples like the Home app appearing on Mac computers.

What you won't get are a redesigned home screen for the iPhone, iPad, and CarPlay, and an overhauled Photos app that offers up suggestions for images to view - they're going on the back-burner. Apple hopes this approach will lead to a more refined, bug-free experience for their customers and a less taxing environment for engineers. The changelog includes fundamental revisions of the operating system's core, user-facing redesigns of the interface and updates to iOS' built-in stock apps. However, with Apple's lack of transparency regarding the slowdown, it helps vindicate the planned obsolescence strategy pushing users to buy newer phones. A related enhancement would have also allowed users to let two screens from the same app run side-by-side.
