Wahlberg Donates $1.5m Film Fee Following Outcry

Mark Wahlberg's Rep Tells 'All the Money in the World' Financiers 'He Doesn't Work for Free'

Mark Wahlberg says he's donating $1.5 million United States to Time's Up after controversy erupted over the pay he received for re-shooting scenes in the film All The Money In The World. According to USA Today and two sources familiar with the production, Wahlberg had co-star approval in his contract.

While the director needed both Williams, who plays Gail Harris, the mother of kidnap victim John Paul Getty III, and Wahlberg, who plays a former Central Intelligence Agency operative who becomes involved in the attempts to secure the boy's release, Williams apparently agreed to return without making any additional salary request, while Wahlberg demanded further compensation.

His agency WME - which also represents Williams - is donating a further $500,000.

ABC News reported that Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million for the reshoots while Williams - a four-time Oscar nominee - received an $80 per diem, totaling less than $1,000.

Both Scott and Williams have spoken about doing the reshoot for free, with Williams telling USA Today last month that she would even give up her Thanksgiving holiday for the reshoots. "They all came in for free".

Pay discrepancies are sadly nothing new in the entertainment business, or anywhere really, but they rarely get this egregious. Williams did, however, telling USA Today several days ago that she was so grateful for the fact Ridley Scott made the call she would sacrifice her salary. Despite having already agreed to reshoots along with the rest of the cast after Christopher Plummer was hired to replace Kevin Spacey, the star of Ted went back to negotiate.

Williams, meanwhile, could be looking at her fifth Academy Award nod for her work in the film when the honorees are announced next week. "I wonder if the studio or Wahlberg will do something to make the situation less insane", he wrote.

When asked about working with Plummer in the film after Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct, Williams says she was "not talking about that".
