Coastal Carolina Volleyball to Face #9 Creighton in First Round of NCAA Tournament

Minnesota (26-5) will play the University of North Dakota (30-7) in its first game of the NCAA tournament, the Division I Women's Volleyball committee announced Sunday.

The victor will face Missouri (20-11) or 2015 Final Four participant Kansas (22-7) at 8 p.m. Saturday in a second-record match at Wichita State. The winners will play on December 2 at 6 p.m., and the champion of the four-team sub-regional advances to the third and fourth rounds December 8-9 at a site to be determined.

The Tigers will play their first round match in Southern California. Junior outside hitter Roni Jones-Perry (4.72 kills per set, .280 hitting percentage) is a leading candidate for the West Coast Conference Player of the Year and BYU closed the season with seven straight wins.

The UNI Panthers have posted 14 victories all-time in their previous 20 NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Cougars will face Miami in the opening round on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.in Gainesville, Fla. 24 Ohio State, No. 23 Michigan State and No. 21 Florida State. Meanwhile, it's the first time HPU has advanced to the national tournament in back-to-back seasons.

Senior setter Rachel Minarick looks at the challenge of starting the tournament with the top teams in the country to advance to the championship after losing in the second round the past three season. The Blujays earned the conference's title with a come-from-behind, 3-2 win over Marquette in the league championship.

No. 25 Missouri State, which won the regular season and tournament championship, was joined by at-large selection Northern Iowa in the field. Coach Chris Lamb's 18 seasons of building, knocking over barrier and barrier, has reached a point where NCAA Tournament opponents are coming to Koch Arena for the first time.

The Bucs finished 12-4 in conference play and ran through the SoCon volleyball tournament gauntlet with 3-0 sweeps over Western Carolina, UNCG and Wofford to earn an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament.

With the No. 1 overall seed, Penn State will host the regional on December 8 and 9 as well.

It's the sixth NCAA trip in program history, but the first time that Baylor has ever hosted.
