Afghanistan wants friendly relations with all nations, says Abdullah in New Delhi

Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakara

The U.S. shares the responsibility for the rise of jihad in South Asia, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif told an audience in NY, adding that Islamabad's cooperation in America's proxy war against the Soviet Union is what brought upon the current turmoil in his country.

Jadhav has been sentenced to death by a Pakistan military court for allegedly spying for India.

The minister said the Taliban had 40 to 45 percent territory of Afghanistan under their control, adding that Kabul had no control of that territory.

Responding to a question regarding Indian Army Chief's statement of surgical strikes in Pakistan, Zakaraia said that the statement of India was not more than a pack of lies.

In a clear message, Nafees Zakaria stated that Pakistan was concerned about USA offer to India to send troops in Afghanistan.

"Pakistan should be asked to hand over the leadership of the Afghan Taliban to the Afghan government and act solidly for the elimination of terrorist hideouts", said Member of Parliament Fatima Aziz.

Asked why Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif was not present during the Rights of Reply at UNGA after Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj criticized Pakistan, he said: "This is a procedural matter at the United Nations, wherein Rights of Reply are a business dealt with by the office of the permanent representative and the team".

Abdullah is on a two-day visit to India to attend a "India-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Show" organised in collaboration with the USAID.

Sabir Shakir said that Khawaja Asif has proven himself the foreign minister of Sharif family not Pakistan with this statement. "These groups are being used to foment unrest and orchestrate terrorist attacks in Pakistan and other regional countries", he said. In an interview with the BBC, he said blaming Pakistan for U.S. failures in Afghanistan was not right.

He said it was to suit the American interests in the region that Pakistan turned into promotion of jihad. "The most promising element of this policy is the recently launched China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a multi-billion dollars initiative entailing multiple development and connectivity initiatives and projects, including infrastructure, energy, Gwadar port and industrial co-operation".

The Pakistan Foreign Minister, however, did not specify whether any proposal was made to the Indian and Afghan authorities over the swapping of Kulbhushan and the terrorist in Afghan custody.

It is assumed that Asif was referring to the Afghan national security advisor Mohammed Hanif Atmar.
