Pakistan's BAT tries to push intruders into J&K; attempt foiled

India gives befitting reply to Pakistan Army's intrusion attempt in Kupwara at Line of Control

The Indian Army has foiled Pakistan's intrusion bid in Keran of Jammu and Kashmir, media reports said.

Speaking at an interaction with members of the Indian Association of Foreign Affairs Correspondents (IAFAC), Sharma said, the Pakistani forces initiated firing around August 24-25 during which a BSF trooper lost his life.

The incident occurred a day after Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat warned Pakistan that India would not hesitate to conduct another "surgical strike" or a similar operation if the Pak army does not stop aiding cross-border terrorism. "It is nothing but an attempt to push in as many terrorists as possible befor the winter sets in", said an official. They have known to intrude into India to target Indian soldiers patrolling along the border.

A ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army has been reported in Jammu and Kashmir.

"A BAT action was attempted by seven to eight armed intruders (from PoK side) today at 1.00 pm in the area of Keran Sector (Kupwara)".

Pakistan yet again violated the ceasefire agreement by firing unprovoked on the Line of Control in Rajouri and Poonch districts. The shelling left a 50-year-old woman injured.

Meanwhile, the Army, the CRPF and J&K police on Tuesday launched a search operation in Hiranagar area of the IB in Kathua district following reports about the infiltration of militants from across.

On Monday, four terrorists were killed at Kalgai village near the Line of Control in the same sector.
