Google Play Store now priotises stable apps

Bad Android Apps Officially Getting Downgraded in Google Play Store

Excessive battery usage, slow render times, and crashes can be a source of frustration. Now Google is looking to punish those apps by making them less visible in search results, which will hurt their chances of being discovered and downloaded.

Developers scared that their apps may fall from a high ranking due to poor quality have a lot to fear from this update, but there is hope: If an app is popular despite flaws, it will likely be even more popular with a better user experience. One other way Google is also ramping up stopping these bad Android apps is that Google is now using machine learning.

Google is also encouraging these developers to use the new Android vitals tool to detect the performance issues in their apps, and those who will comply with the standards will gradually see improvements in their apps' ratings and "ultimately their retention and monetisation".

The artificial intelligence aspect is just one way Google is trying to rid the low quality Android apps from Google Play Store.

Google said that they are working to develop a variety of "quality signals" related to an app's performance to determine its new ranking. For example, now it will take into accounts stuffs like app crashes, battery usage, how many uninstalls the app and other things.

Lastly, there's the Playbook app. All apps need to be optimized for the feature in order to take advantage of it, and Google has recently been in the process of doing so with its own mobile software portfolio, with the Play Store being its latest Android service to receive Notification Channels support. Now is the time for developers and businesses to step up their app development game and ride the new criteria to the top.

The updated algorithm will continue to be rolled out to the users over the next few days across the world, said the company.
