Paul George's Future - Was Larry Bird Leaving Pacers a Clue?

NBA: Paul George's Future — Was Larry Bird Leaving Pacers a Clue?

According to The Vertical, George instructed his agent, Aaron Mintz, to tell IN president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard about his decision now, to "spare the franchise any confusion about his intentions". Additionally, he pulled down 6.6 rebounds and passed for 3.3 assists per game. If they let his contract run out - he can become an unrestricted free agent next summer by declining his player option for the 2018-19 campaign - and don't get anything of value in return, the franchise could be crippled for years.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports that George told team officials that he will not re-sign with the team following the 2017-18 season and hopes to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent.

The past two seasons have been the best of his career. Starting at the NBA Trade deadline, rumors began swirling of how "hell-bent" George was in getting to the Lakers. That was the report from The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday afternoon that sent the National Basketball Association world into a frenzy. "Again, what I've been dealing with is stories".

A wild weekend that began with rumors of a trade at the top of the draft, which materialized in the blink of an eye, has just been bookended by a potential league-altering leak: Paul George wants the Hollywood treatment. Do they trade for George now and assure that he'll be a Laker, giving up a pick and a player like Julius Randle or D'Angelo Russell?

Last week, he struck a different tone with Indianapolis media. Cleveland then eliminated the Pacers with a first-round sweep - four wins by a combined total of 16 points - on its way to a third straight Eastern Conference crown.
